Our hippy hearts cannot contain the excitement of our latest project, an airstream! The last few years I’ve dreamt of renovating a camper to have the freedom to just go & see, satisfying that wandering spirit we both have. A camper seemed like a genius idea since lodging can add up fast for just a few nights. The idea of having a mobile living space that we can have the freedom to live spontaneously appeals to my gypsy heart!
So here we are with our greatest find, Luna! I saw her one day, just sitting, all beat up on the side of the road. I’d passed her everyday for half my life in that field, but now when I saw her, I knew she was mine. Cue the montage of family adventures & living, traveling anywhere our wheels could take us and I wasn’t going to take no for an answer (I can be relentless, I like to say resilient, & sometimes this is a good quality). We went up the the owner’s door and knocked, then he joyfully led us to her saying she was ours! He’s lucky because I was planning to write letters every week till he said yes. She is a 1974 Argosy 22, in pretty bad shape, but full of all the potential we’ve dreamed up. These airstreams are not the traditional silver shell, but were made with steel endcaps, so they’re usually white. Our plan is to keep her upper half white and pick a color for the bottom half. Since airstreams were made in the 70s I want to do a modern design which Im so excited about. Modern it’s my usual style, so it will be fun to finally get that out of my system.
I truly believe that when we have less, less space, less stuff, we really do have so much more, more freedom, more presence, more focus. Our plan once we sell #thenelsoncraftsman is to live in Luna, travel, live a little more simply till we move onto the next part of life, whatever and wherever that may be. We will continue to renovate houses in these next few years, so we will be living on those properties, taking care of Greener Earth Nursery and traveling! I think having spent these last two years home with Ivy has given me so much, more than I could have ever known, in the way of finding what I truly want from this life, what matters and who I am. I have been hers, solely and I still am, but as she grows and more freedom and ease is coming with her age, having this opportunity to be more spontaneous and adventurous is just what we need and who we have always been. It’s going to be so good for us all!
There is nothing more I desire in life than to be with Billy & Ivy, to see the world and create a life for our daughter & future children, one of adventure & wonder.
